My name is Stephen Yaw Appiah. I am a 2nd year student of the University of Ghana. In the year 2013, I was diagnosed with nasal cancer at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and needed to undergo the treatment required. As part of the treatment, I had to go through chemotherapy, an expensive procedure my parents couldn't afford. They had spent a lot of money prior to the diagnosis and were totally drained.

The next morning my mother and I went to the hospital to discuss alternative methods of payment and we were informed, to our surprise that the treatment could begin because someone had paid for the procedure. It was a truly emotional moment for my family and after the treatment, we sought to find our benefactor to express our gratitude. This was when I was introduced to some members of the Sena Anku Foundation.

Following my treatment, they handed me over to the Gaede Foundation for follow-up health support as well as educational sponsorship to enable me pick up from where I had left off. Over the years, Gaede has continued to support me, paying all bills from my first year in the senior high school till today. I am forever grateful to and in the debt of this foundation.
