I am Sophia Owusu, an agriculturist working on contract as an extension agent with the Department of Agriculture (Ejisu Municipal) under the Planting for Food and Jobs project. I completed Kwadaso Agricultural College with a qualification of Second class upper in General Agriculture. I studied Agricultural Science at Okuapemman Senior High School. Agriculture has been a field that I love and I wanted to study and work in that area so I decided to take my studies very serious.

This was a dream come true for me by the help of the Gaede Foundation from 2007 to 2010. I was one of the lucky beneficiaries who was aided financially to pay my school fees and have pocket money through out my secondary School education. I was blessed.

All this started with the help of a neighbour Mr. Michael Charway who saw me to be a hardworking and intelligent girl after passing my B.E.C.E exams with an excellent grade. Mr. Michael Charway introduced me to Mr. and Mrs. Asiedu as a junior high graduate who gained admission into S.H.S with very good grades who needed assistance to further my studies. The sponsorship package helped me pay my fees and pocket money really gave me a sound mind and boosted my confidence level to study in school.

It is easy to feel confident when you’re in your comfort zone - it's only when you're out of that you have to fake it till you make it to the end, and I made it. And this has helped me to where I am now. I also have plans of furthering my studies in the same area to broaden my mind on how Agriculture can be a poverty-alleviating tool in Ghana.
